Has the real estate bust hit Ontario yet?

My wife and I are immigrating to Canada and really like St. Thomas. We went to visit the town a month ago and like what we see in that the city is peaceful, cost of living is lower than most cities in Ontario, and the crime rate is relatively low. While in St. Thomas we looked at some homes and were in shock at the high prices of the homes. Has the housing bust not happened in Ontario yet? The houses here in the states are much more affordable than the ones in St. Thomas (i.e. sq. footage, ammenities, location, etc…). Could someone please give me their thoughts on St. Thomas as a city to live and elaborate on the housing prices? Do you think the prices are low already or going down much more? Any input would be GREATLY appreciated. As far as immigrating, we have already applied for residency almost a year ago and anticipate the process to be complete near year end…per our attorney in Quebec.

St. Thomas is a tourist town so the property will be higher. I know in Calif the houses are really high compared to TX but their salaries are a lot higher also. So if I were you I would base the price of the house on the salary you will make and compare that to the states.
