How do I know if this is an employment scam? Is there a number to call to find out?

I replied to a job that was listed in the Denver Post for a “real estate assistant”, but I am not sure if it is a scam.
I would like to do the work if it isn’t, but want to make sure before preceding.
What alarmed me was having to list my bank account number on the contract agreement, so rent payments can be deposited in my account, and I take 1% for commission.
They want my to send analysis of real estate every month, and that is how I receive my salary of $2000 per month.
Does this sound like a scam?
If so, How can they possibly scam if they are sending me money, and depositing in my account?
Also, I will be signing a contract.

Yes it is a scam to get your id information and rip you off. Also it tends to look like money laundering as you would end up paying taxes on the income – not them. Stay away from anything that requests private information over the internet. Even in person be careful unless you have done a background check on the company.
