Escape From Latin America, while

By: Jim Scherrer

As we all know, Christopher Columbus, while China's research, he discovered the Americas, when he reached San Salvador in 1492. On his second trip, landed in the Caribbean islands, and on his last trip in 1498, arrived in the region of Venezuela. In 1497, the Italian seafarer Giovanni Caboto (John Cabot), exploring on behalf of England, landed in Labrador and Newfoundland. Unfortunately, none of these sailors was very well educated, nor inclined to fund their travel document.

In 1499, an Italian scholar named Amerigo Vespucci joined the Spanish fleet and sailed to Venezuela. A few years later, the king of Portugal, Vespucci joined another motorist traveling in Brazil and in 1508, Vespucci travel involved are well documented. Although Amerigo Vespucci was a person in relation insignificant and had never led an expedition or anything found, his name appeared in much of the documentation and most research in the New World.

The use of all documents produced recently, a German cartographer named Martin Waldseemuller developed the first map of the New World in 1507. With the documentation prepared by Amerigo Vespucci as a guide, simply used the word Americus, the Latinized version Amerigo, show the New World. Therefore, the entire Western Hemisphere, finally took the name of America, which later became known as the Americas. Probably had to be called Columbus or Cabot, but could be worse, imagine, United States Vespucciville!

Before going too far in this article first define "America." The Americas are the lands of the Western hemisphere or New World consisting of the North and South America with their associated islands and regions. Today, in the minds of the citizens of most Americans and also in the minds of people around the world, the term "America" refers United States, but this term is debatable. For purposes of this section, we refer to the United States of America when we use the term "America".

The next term we need to define precisely is the "North America" Too often we think of Americans as those of the United States and Canada. Again, this is a misnomer because it covers North America, in fact, the North American continent including the United States, Canada, Greenland, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean islands. Therefore, "North America" are those who reside in North America. However, for the purposes of this section, we will refer only to the United States and Canada as "Americans."

Usually when we think of escaping to America, we refer Americans who fled the U.S. to some other place. With the depressing state of the economy, politics, the crime rate, levels of life, etc. There are many reasons why U.S. citizens are more interested than ever in retirement abroad (beyond the limits of its own country). Wide availability today, call abroad and economic Internet, satellite TV, transportation, medical care, etc. have eliminated the major reasons to retire and remain in the United States.

Now more than ever, with the many reasons why one wants to escape to America, the question is: Where in the world would be more logical destination Retired? Most felt that this would be somewhere that has a lower cost of living without compromising the level life, a place that is relatively close to the United States, a safe and clean place which includes English, etc. Other important criteria for retirement include the size of the community of like-minded Americans (U.S. and Canadian citizens), the availability of activities for retirees, world-class care medical, gourmet meals, telecommunications, etc.

Most travel magazines and retirement list a number of retirement paradise wonderful in the Americas, including Costa Rica, Panama and Ecuador. Although all marry beautiful weather, beautiful scenery, low living costs, etc, usually Mexico List Tops. Many of these sites are either too far or the lack of any facilities that Americans are accustomed, and considering that require retreat of some Mexicans all the requirements for retirement in another country in North America.

Having lived in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for almost 13 years, one can say categorically that PV has it all! During the last decade of growth in Puerto Vallarta, the city has more than doubled in size, with infrastructure fully adapt to international standards. All the comforts you would expect in a city of 350,000 inhabitants is located in Puerto Vallarta.

As for the proximity Vallarta to the U.S., please see the map of North America. You may be surprised to see that PV is at the same distance from Chicago, Minneapolis and Portland is like New York, Houston, Dallas and Denver. In relative terms, cities such as Houston, Dallas, Phoenix and Los Angeles are located very close to PV. Another Factoid, Puerto Vallarta is closer to El Paso, Texas that the Texarkana, Texas.

For comparison, consider the example of Maui, Hawaii is at the same latitude as Puerto Vallarta and obviously has a perfect winter weather. However, winter weather is better in Vallarta the period of seven months from November to May the average daily temperature Vallarta is 73 ° C with virtually no rain while Maui's average temperature is practically the same but with more than two inches of rain for months. Needless to say, as great as it is moving to Maui and there is quite expensive and time can not be withdrawn prohibitive costs.

This map puts the whole concept of travel abroad on a new joint potential. With the many benefits Vallarta has to offer, including its proximity to the United States, it is quite obvious why about 50,000 Americans (the U.S.) escaped America and now call Vallarta home. The fact is that your new home is still in America (North America) and in general a short 2-3 hour flight away from family and friends.

In short, I now know how to escape to America, leaving America. Puerto Vallarta is still the charm of a Mexican fishing village, but now has all necessary amenities to do one of the best retirement destinations in the world. Just pack your bags and head south to PV this winter and see for himself, but with caution, do not want to go home!
