Does the MLS (multiple listings service) advertise for their members?
Does the MLS (multiple listings service) advertise their members listings through real estate magazines while the real estate agents pay the MLS for the advertising service.
The MLS is not an advertising service.
It is a “multiple listing service”.
Before there was such a service, if you as an agent wanted to show another agent’s listing you had to call them up and introduce yourself and prove you could be trusted with a key to someones house.
Now we have the MLS computer based system to help us find homes to show our buyers and to help look up comparables to see how the market is doing in a particular neighborhood. We have electronic key-boxes so that the keys are securely kept yet easily assessable to qualified agents. We have classes for further education and a forum to air grievances if someone is not honest.
