Moving to Japan, dogs and apartment searching?
I know apartments that allow dogs in Tokyo are hard to come by, but what about other smaller cities like Kyoto and Nagoya?
I haven’t decided which city yet. I’m applying to grad schools (start next April) in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Nagoya, where I choose to live all depends which schools, if any, I get into.
Also, how far in advance should I start contacting real estate agents (two months before departure? etc.) or should I wait until I get there and stay in a gaijin house or something else while I’m searching?
Don’t know about apartments, but what the other people have said about quarantine is simply not true. We always clear quarantine in less than 12 hours. If you have the correct paper work approved by the USDA-APHIS office and your pet is microchipped, you will be able to do it, too. Just follow the official government link below:
It takes a good 7 months advance planning to clear quarantine in less than 12 hours, but it’s possible.
