Can I list job experience I have received when working for the family business on a resume?

I am applying for a job as an assistant to a real estate agency and I was wondering if I can include the the time I spent helping out my mother who is a real estate agent.

Absolutely add any business related experience to enhance your resume. However, be sure to do it in a professional way, i.e. listing the name of your mother’s agency and her name and the responsibilities you had for her, rather than putting, “Worked for my mom”. If the interviewer asks if you are related, then give the truth and use it as a positive selling point.
