What books to study to learn about Mortgage industry?

I have recently lost my job, and I really want to get into the Mortgage business, I know a few people who work for mortgage companies and seem to make a great living. But i want to seem informed about the indutry before asking to to get an interview. Any advice for someone who really has no financial backround or mortgage backround what I should read, like “Mortages for Dummies” LOL.

They’re mostly for consumers, but will give you a lot of information. Most look pretty good. And, yes, there is a “Mortgages for Dummies.”

However, the mortgage industry is in pretty bad shape. I know a bunch of people whose companies folded, or who got laid off. So, you might want to rethink your strategy.

Why don’t you do an informational interview or two? That’s when you’re just trying to find out more information about a company or industry. It’s not a job interview. That way, you can talk to actual people involved in the business and find out what it’s like. Or: Network. Visit a couple of BNI gatherings in your area. (Just look up BNI online.) They’ll let you attend two for just the cost of the meal (most meet at restaurants for breakfast or lunch.) Many will have someone from the banking or mortgage industry. All will have someone in real estate. Talk to them. Again, not a hard sell looking for a job, but rather just networking.
