How do I deal with an arrogant tax assessor who wants to increase my homes value by $ 60,000?
I bought my house in February this year for $ 309,000 and it is quite obvious that it is better than today, just before 8 months. Although this does not bother me too much since we plan to stay here for years to come, I have a problem with tax assessor my city. My wife had to go and meet with him tonight by herself because I could not get there. (their calling hours are put in place by 1 Shifters I work only and 2nd quarter). I went to Realtor.com and Form 10 comparable homes for sale in our neighborhood are all sold much cheaper per square foot than what we paid and many of them are newer. The assessor was very arrogant and did not hear my wife had to say. He kept saying that we "raise the bar" by paying 309,000 dollars for this if that is what the assessment is too bad. Obviously anyone who reads the papers knows that we are in the midst of a huge collapse of subprime mortgages and home values have plummeted. Please help.
Offer to sell him to a higher rate.
