income support mortgage allowance

November 17th, 2008 by admin

does your income support and housing benefits stop if you get a mortgage on disability allowance?

both me and my son have been awarded the higher rate of disability indefinitely, i would like to get a mortgage so i have something secure for my son and yes i also work the few hours i can as i am also a carer for my son. i have been told i can get a mortgage,i would just like to know what i will still be entitled to.
people who dont know what their talking about, dont bother answering!

Starlight, HB DOES pay mortgage payments (my mother in law had hers paid for over 10 years, while she was looking after her disabled husband until he died!)

Now I don’t know if they will pay for a NEW mortgage, that’s different from existing ones.

I highly doubt a mortgage company with give you a mortgage just based on your benefit payments as these can change (one of you could die for instance) Who told you could get one? The bank or the DWP? What about having money for a deposit etc?
Not trying to be rude or anything, so don’t get me wrong! :0)

Even if they will give you one, I’d get off yahoo and get decent proper advice from either the DWP or the CAB.
Your only going to get rude comments or incorrect advice and if your really thinking about doing this, you need to make sure your correctly informed as you don’t want to find your self in a situation :0)

The DWP really would be best to talk to about whether or not HB can be paid etc.

Good Luck!
