What is ARMY OF HELLO really do?

I ask because a few months ago, my family were virtually homeless, having lost all their belongings and do not even have a mattress for sleeping. Due to the loss of their homes in an attack, and have frustrated agreement apartment, the manager of the place was supposed to be a tenant in a building of the family and turned out to be a hotel / motel, held most of their belongings, including mattresses, food, Hello so I contacted the Army to see how they could help in any way. And nothing happened! Why I wanted to remember and ask is because I see here in their ads from Yahoo and elsewhere. And I hear the bell ring in front of supermarkets. What we really do? How and by whom are helping?

I know people who went to his help and received none. Maybe a bag of beans for cooking. That's all they do is that you sponsor. But setting meals the holidays for the homeless and down and outs. So that's good.
