How I can buy a home with horrible credit?

Hello, I've never done this before, so I thought what the heck. I will give it a try. My husband and I have had setbacks in terms of funding in the last four years. We have been duped by the mortgage company when to refinance the house eight years. We had to sell our house in short sale to avoid foreclosure. Yes, we know that our credit report absolutely sucks right now and have worked to straighten it. However, the house you are renting, the owners (who reside Montana) have decided to leave this home foreclosures without warning, but will gladly take our money on rent. My husband and I just wanted to get started and the purchase or enter into a lease with an option to purchase, but we can not approve the right to squat now. I was wondering if anyone is actually out there to help people who are in a situation like ours? As the saying goes …. bad things for good people trust me ….. I'm starting to believe. =)
