2) Translate to a proportion . Then solve.
what percent of 50 of 10 ?
3) Posters are sold at the mall for $4 each, or for $10 . If you buy three posters, what is the rate of discount?
4) A real estate commission rate is 6.5% . A house sells for $ 112,500. How much does the seller get for the house after paying the commission?

1. divide both sides by 4.3

2. 10/50 = 20%

3. if you bought 3 your would pay $12, you are paying $10 so discount is 2/12 (i don’t have a calculator with me) divide 2 by 12.

4. multiply $112,500 by .065 (6.5% as a decimal). subtract the number that you get from $112,500

5. multiply 225 by .40 (40% as a decimal) and that’s your answer. be sure to label it as pounds

6. to do percent increase or percent decrease remember the formula
difference divided by starting number.
difference (subtract the smaller number from larger)
beginning (in this case it was $125
it is a percent increase as prices went up

so you have 24/125 divide these two and you will get a decimal, move the decimal poiint two places to left to get the percent.
