Believe it or not, until this year, Panama topped the list last six years. He still has much to offer retirees, However, this year, with 30 countries being analyzed and ranked, it fell to fourth place. Before the Panama in third position was Italy with its beautiful cities, its fine weather, and of course the historical sites. In second place was, in all countries, Ecuador, which increased all the way from tenth position last year. Ecuador offers a very low cost of living, good weather, beautiful country, a growing economy linked to the U.S. dollar and a stable political environment. Could be a closely guarded secret, but Ecuador has become a land of opportunity and retirees are to benefit.
Now, with the number one country in the world for retirement; MEXICO! Besides the fact that Mexico is very convenient for the United States and Canada Seniors in Mexico's program provides benefits to 50% discount on many services to retirees over 60 years, the Mexican government has adopted many new laws encouraging foreign investment, Mexico has become in an incredible place to enjoy retirement, offering quality life that Americans are accustomed to many additional benefits.
(As side note, some years ago, when the Canadian dollar to its lower, Canada ranks among the top ten. However, as the Canadian dollar has been strengthened, Canada has fallen well outside the top ten this year. For love the reference, the United States is ranked 19th this year!)
The major Mexican inland retirement communities are San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, and Lake Chapala / Ajijic area. Most of these pathways retirement communities are in the beautiful colonial city, with temperatures moderate throughout the year. Most modern facilities and activities are available to retirees in these retirement cities with a very cost attractive life. Being located inland, retirees can purchase and own real estate with the same way as they would in the United States or Canada.
For those who want spectacular views of the ocean, the Pacific coastline offers many advantages over the Gulf Coast of Mexico, more important is protection against storms. The area of the Yucatan Peninsula, including Cancun and Cozumel are ideal for holiday areas but because of its exposure hurricanes, it is considered by many as ideal for retirement. In addition, the coastline of the Pacific Ocean is rarely troublesome storms and provides over a thousand miles of incredible Pebble Beach like views with a climate similar to Hawaii.
Ocean Pacific Beach Cities such as Mazatlan, Manzanillo, and Acapulco are somewhat popular for tourists, but have become quite industrialized and commercialized and therefore not treating you as ideal cities retirement. The locations of the most desirable retirement from north to south along the Pacific Ocean are La Paz and Todos Santos in Baja California, Puerto Vallarta, Ixtapa / Zihuatanejo, and Puerto Escondido.
La Paz and Todos Santos in Baja, Ixtapa / Zihuatanejo, and Puerto Escondido are more exposed to the elements of Puerto Vallarta, is hidden behind the mountains of the Sierra Madre, near the Bay of Banderas, sheltered from Pacific storms from the south. Moreover, due to Ixtapa / Zihuatanejo is about 500 miles south of Vallarta and Puerto Escondido is 300 miles further south, even the "high season" or time during the year with perfect weather, is reduced from 7-8 months to perhaps 6-7 months. An additional month per year in Paradise is often considered be substantial to retirees!
Using this logic, why it is not surprising to many retirees, many of whom have migrated to Puerto Vallarta. This beautiful tourist area has welcomed thousands of Americans who have traveled the world, could afford to live anywhere in the world, and have chosen Vallarta winter, if not full time, retirement destination.
Located on the same latitude as Hawaii, Puerto Vallarta has a perfect climate with an average temperature of 73 ° C from November to May, with virtually no chance of rain. With a population approximately 350,000 inhabitants, Vallarta is now a new and growing infrastructure as roads, water treatment plants and distribution stations and the distribution network, airport, marine terminal, hospital, university, etc.

Most mega-stores in the United States and Canada found have come Vallarta at Sam's Club, Wal-Mart, Costco, Home Depot, Office Depot, Staples, and of course all restaurants fast food chain imaginable! Vallarta has now seven golf class and three more either in the planning stage or under construction. There are hundreds of tennis courts, world class fishing high seas, and all other activities available that you would expect in a city this size. There are many new cinemas, theaters, and hundreds restaurants.
Due to the explosive growth of Vallarta and the influx of Americans, it is safe to say that its entire economy based on tourism and the withdrawal of Americans, creating thousands of new construction and service jobs related to the local population. It has also created an environment where English has become a prerequisite to employment with decent pay. Consequently, most young people are now very Vallarta fluent in English. The inability to speak Spanish is certainly not an obstacle to retiring in Vallarta! Also, because the economy is based the U.S. dollar, safety is a major concern for local communities. We have a property in Vallarta for almost 25 years and living here as permanent residents for over ten years and can provide proof of its magical characteristics resulting in a quality of life that can not be surpassed anywhere in the world. The growth we have witnessed since 2000, when the PAN government is power, was really incredible, so that the head of the local Chamber of Commerce has projected the population of Vallarta will reach 600,000 in 2015. Currently, there more than 7,000 new apartments under construction with over 20,000 more planned in the future by Fonatur, the Office of Tourism of Mexico. Because sales of real estate in Mexico are generally done on a cash basis, this economy has not been affected by the mortgage problems to view the United States.
