Foreclosure in Texas? Thinking of filing bankruptcy?

The date for the bank to sell the house or put the house up for auction is Jan. 6th. We haven’t received an eviction notice yet. Is there still time to file bankruptcy? Will this save our house? I’m not very clear on how this all works. We were notified of our house being up for foreclosure in November. The notice said that the house will be sold? on Jan. 6th. Thanks!

If you file for bankruptcy before January, this will put a hold on the foreclosure, but it probably won’t “save” your house. It will give you some more time to try to work things out with the lender.
